Give back
This kind of goes hand in hand with my community involvement page, but that’s ok. A few things I am proudly involved in are found here.
Currently I’m an affiliated photographer with NILMDTS (now i lay me down to sleep). Their website is listed under the links but can be found at www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org. WARNING: Do not visit this page unless you are prepared to cry your eyes out. A lot of people ask me how I do this, and it’s only through the Grace of God that I am able to. It’s a remembrance service for families who have or had babies who are born and are terminal, or pass suddenly (or for any reason) before or shortly after birth. It’s a tough but equally (if not) more so rewarding job. Some find it morbid, but the gift these families receive is something that can NEVER be recreated.
I was just accepted yesterday into the Inspiration through Art (the littlest heros) program. I’m excited to start working with these families as well! This is a group for children that are fighting illness, in hospitals, at home, in treatment, survivors, etc. I’m still learning more about them, but couldnt’ resist the urge to help out. Also found on the links page http://www.littlestheroesproject.org/
Operation smile is one I hooked up with last year. It’s a PPA charity that hooks up with surgeons who donate their time and talent to fix cleft lip/pallets in children all around the world. Each $249 donation changes a child’s life forever! www.operationsmile.org
Help-Portrait is another group I’m involved in. Last year was their first year in operation. Pioneered by Jeremy Cowart, we photograph portraits for people who cannot afford it on the first Sat. in Dec. These may be single moms, homeless, war vets, you name it. The circumstance vary but the goal is the same. Show them another side of themselves so that they may go out into the world renewed and full of strength! www.help-portrait.com
